Mate Rimac, is a 24 year old native of Croatia with some serious creativity who intends to produce the Rimac Concept One Supercar in 2015. The $1 million supercar uses four separate electric motors – one in each wheel to deliver an astounding 1,088 horsepower. So from zero to 100kms in just under 2.8 seconds – about the same amount of time it takes to raise a cup off coffee to your lips. Of course this is a rich kid’s toy and there will be limited production of the beast but it’s just another nail in the coffin of the internal combustion engine which is seeming more and more to be such old technology these days. The Bugatti Veyron is still technically faster and can do the same in about 0.4 seconds less but that car took 100 years of development. The electric contender took less than 10. The Rimac Concept One – top speed 305kph, range of 600kms, price – forget it. Click to read more.
