The Kia Soul EV has been unveiled at the 2014 Chicago auto show and is due for delivery in the third quarter of 2014. The EV will be initially offered in California, Oregon, New York, New Jersey and Maryland. It’s a funky distinctive machine will definitely be noticed. The Soul has been lauded by Underwriters Laboratory for it’s use of bio based organic materials in interior plastic. The Soul has multiple charging points with two charging ports as standard, including a SAE J1772 port for Level 1 and Level 2 AC, and a CHAdeMo DC fast-charging port (480v) – free charging will be available at Kia retailers. It offers multiple regenerative braking modes to capture up to 12% of the vehicle’s kinetic energy. We’ll update the video as soon as some real world ones are available. Reviews on this vehicle have been overwhelmingly positive. For it’s first entry to the EV space this looks like a real contender.
