For the time being the 2014 Chevy Spark EV (Holden Barina equivalent) will only be available in Oregon and California. This is a bit of a ‘muscle’ city run around with the drive unit producing 105 kW with 140 horsepower and 400 lb.-ft. (542 Nm) of torque. It’s quick and has better acceleration than some pricey high end sports cars. In contrast the petrol version of the spark produces a mere 85 horsepower. It is well appointed with safety features and warranties – includes a three-year/36,000-mile warranty, eight-year/100,000-mile drive battery warranty, five-year/100,000-mile transferable powertrain warranty that includes emergency roadside assistance and courtesy transportation, and a six-year/100,000-mile rust-through warranty. Doubt we will see this in Australia any time soon.
